World AIDS Day

So here I sit typing away in the first moments of World AIDS day 2007. I am struck by the fact that HIV/AIDS is talked so much about in terms of statistics and numbers and rarely has a human face presented. Each one of those percentage points represents someone. My anger about how this epidemic is being handled has lead to activsm and has contributed hugely to me chosing to go back to school for a degree in social work. I hope that everyone reading this will do something beautiful today so that we all can put a little bit of ourselves out there into the world and diminish the ugliness all around us...
