Some New Subway Sketches and New Directions

I am more satisfied with how my sketching is progressing. Practice makes perfect I guess.

This is a new direction I have been pursuing as of late. Cotton thread sewn through handmade cotton paper. The image is from last year in Iran. Two young men, ages thirteen and fourteen I believe, were hanged because they were convicted of homosexual sex. Here is a link to a lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender group in Iran.

Absolutely fucking genius.
This is one of the most haunting images I remember from the last 10 years. I couldn't open the gay papers as this story was unfolding without literally bursting into tears.

This, the final image, was the most heartbreaking.

Thank you for honoring these men in this way QOP.

In doing so, you honor us all.

Haunting and yet beautiful. When you think about it, it's the strangest combination. I think this is an example of how art transcends reality. The image itself is reality but you have made it much more.

(Not being a native English speaker I almost complimented you on your execution, by which of course I meant the method by which you recreated this image. I still want to compliment you on that.)

I found your blog and your art through he gay and I enjoy both of them very much.

he gay...your words touch me and encourage me to work

changapeluda...thanks for your steady stream of good thoughts and amazing coolness.

subtleknife...thanks for stopping by and checking my page out. Thank you for your observations. I agree that art can, and should make us question and challenge our assuptions about what art and life is...
